Family Connections

We had a visit from my cousin Alex and his family recently. He is a potter and creative light. It was great to see them and to meet Alex’s wife. Weezie loved his gentle manner; she is usually very shy with men, which says a lot for my cousin. It is good for her to be around other people; mostly it is just we women and Weezie’s Dad with glimpses of Grandpa John and a rare encounter with Uncle Judd.

This is my favorite group picture (Alex’s wife Amy was shooting so she is not in this).

This is a close up of Mom. She will be 86 in two weeks.

She has a soft spot for Alex and Amy’s son Austin. I think she feels they have a lot in common.

My daughter is happiest when surrounded by family; I think it may be genetic, especially from my dad who loved to get extended family together. She is five-plus months pregnant, gazing at tomorrow. I love it (and her).

This is Weezie of course. HRH, scepter and crown invisible. You may kneel or curtsey as inclined.
Not much on small talk just yet, Weezie rules with a variety of vocalizations, some of which sound suspiciously like words. Plus the occasional red face, whine and pointing finger. Her subjects get the message.
Nonna's mission: build confidence by fostering unique skills, independence and self-centered behavior. Mom and Dad will teach manners, morality and ethics. GG will develop imagination and creativity. Other G's can pitch in according to their lights. With family like this around, she will be well and truly rounded.

Why do all of these photos look like they were taken in the 70s? And is my face really that bloated in real life? You can tell me - be honest.

Your face doesn't look bloated! It looks serene.

Ooops! Sorry, I forget people actually read this from time to time (and thank you for that, I plan to get a little more prolific as time goes on). No your face is not bloated, silly. You looked happy and relaxed that day. I adjusted the color to even out the glare of the sun. I am, after all, your mother, and love to see you looking good, which you did and do, throughout this pregnancy. Thanks for following my erratic efforts, Kelly (and for saying sweet things to my daughter).
