Space Needling in Seattle

It is impossible to visit Seattle without noticing the Space Needle. Forty-five years have passed since the 1962 World's Fair and so far I had managed to ignore it. But this visit, with Weezie's cultural literacy in mind, we went to see it. Actually it was next door to the hotel so seeing it was unavoidable without keeping the drapes closed. And it is in fact impressive (this is Mamie's art shot, not a post card).

So we popped Weezie into her stroller and walked over for a closer look. It is possible to take an elevator to the top but we were content to poke around the base and crane our necks. The children's museum and other interesting places were already closed, only the arcade and a few carnival rides were open. Weezie bumped along in her chariot, pointing out sights and asking touristy questions like "Zat?" and again "Zat?" It is the changing inflection that helps you realize she is actually interested in your response.

We rotated the role of photographer. Weezie and GG tend to drop the camera, but we're working on that. Meanwhile, they get some great art shots which will be posted on another site as soon as one of them learns to blog.
For the most part, other than meals and fuel, we were bad tourists who did not add much to the local economy (except the next day, when we went to Ikea . . . yes, we made up for it the next day.)
