And This Crib is JUST RIGHT!

Weezie was still using a crib when we journeyed to Seattle, so we obtained one for her at the motel. She went to sleep when we did (or maybe that was the other way around) nighty-nite, sleep tight and the mildest of querulous protests (something like "This is it? We drove all day for this? Oh all right. But next time . . .") She slept peacefully with the Needle outside her window.
Weezie likes to do what the Big Girls do, mainly Mama. but GG and I claim a place here also. She hasn't yet rejected us as unsuitably decrepit role models; this will come in years ahead, but for now in our cantankerous way, we rule and she mimics. Here she is pushing Baby Doll and Caterpillar in the Weeziecart. It was hard to steer so we moved it to the hallway, where it was necessary at times to slow her pace, so excited was she to have a clear path and an actual destination (the other end of the hallway, swivel, repeat.)

Is there a child anywhere who does not enjoy watching the light come on when the button is pressed? Weezie loved everything about the elevator except the narrow black gap revealing the elevator shaft. She was a little frightened of that. Not a bad thing to be cautious of the unknown.
They look annoyed don't they? But I wanted a good picture of Weezie's earliest elevator experiences. She is growing up so fast. Time returns to us only in memory and in photos. Both of which have an unfortunate tendency to fade.
Here we begin the journey home, reverberating faintly with excitement--so many new sights and sounds, people and places, thoughts and things. A little introspection, a brief nap, quick stop for dinner and home to Dad. Road trip over. Well done!
