Aunt Sandy gave your mama a picture from the past recently. It's a picture of Mame sitting on a horse at Uncle Earl and Aunt Virginia's beaver farm in northern Idaho. It is June 1973 and your mama is about to celebrate her third birthday, the age you are now, Weezie. She loved horses, was never afraid of them, and welcomed every opportunity to befriend one. The beautiful woman in the picture is Aunt Sandy. She and your Uncle Judd were newly married, enjoying some time together before they started their family. The man holding the horse is Mame's daddy, Grandpa Steve who lives in California.
The picture reminded me that we have many pictures of your mama when she was little, like you are now, ninos, and each picture contains a tiny piece of your family history. It is not possible for me to fit the pieces into a story, but perhaps I can put a few words and pictures together. These may help you to ask questions before we older ones forget the answers. Of course, if that happens, you must answer your own questions or make up some stories that please you.
