Chez Nonna

It has occurred to me, grandchildren, that it may be easier for you to remember your visit with Nonna if I include a picture of my house. So here it is. This was taken last winter after the leaves turned red and gold and brown and then fell from the trees, so it is different from the bright sunlight and greens of summer as it looked when you were here. Otherwise, this is the little duplex that I am renting, the place that Uncle Judd brought you in his big white truck after our plane landed at the airport. You can see the small green table and chairs and the area where the cats come to have their breakfast each morning. You can also see the bright red couch inside the window.

Here you are having oatmeal at GG's beautiful old dining room table. Weezie admired GG's old furniture; she especially liked the china cabinet. "Beautiful," she said one morning, standing very close and gazing through the glass. "I like this very much." I explained a little of the history of the piece, including the bandaged leg. "Show me how it opens," Weezie said. I showed her how to use the key to pull the cabinet door open. "Maybe I will get to do that someday," Weezie mused, stroking the wood frame. In this picture you are eating from my blue ceramic bowls. Those are from France, ninos, and they do not go in a microwave. In case you use them again someday.

Mame snapped a picture while we were reading bedtime stories. I gleaned some great books from the local library, which has an excellent collection. Later in the week we returned a few and checked out a new stack. It was just like old times at the Northwest library for Weezie and me. Sorry to say these are the only pictures taken here at the house, but they capture a small piece of your visit. And we have many pictures of other places and activities that I will post soon.
