Maybe Weezie? or Clam?

"When I am gone what will you do?

Who will write and draw for you?

Someone smarter--someone new?

Someone better--maybe you?"

-----Shel Silverstein in Every Thing On It

Published twelve years after his death

Weezie drew this picture of pirates burying treasure. The pink boat is the skiff they used to transport the treasure chest from the pirate ship to the island. X marks the spot. Map on reverse. Good luck, mateys.

The difficulty lies in preserving her drawing. This is it. Tomorrow I will erase the white board and Weezie's delightful sketch is gone forever. So this is it for preservation.

Weezie is learning her letters this year. Poetry may be the next endeavor as we explore the humanities together. No need to wait, she could dictate the lines to me.

Rest easy, dear Mr. Silverstein. The creative urge survives and thrives in Weezie and Clam.
