This is not an environmental activist post, but a gesture in that direction. And true to form, I am posting it a day late.
This is a picture of the Japanese Gardens in a park near the new house (borrowed from my daughter’s blog). I wanted a picture that would evoke the beauty of this city, its extensive park system, its commitment to diversity, its conservation bias, the many urban elements I find appealing about this community.
I like it here. It may not come across that way when I continue to post odes to the Southwest, but this area of the Northwest has many appealing qualities. Starting over at my age is complicated but invigorating.
A local woman has invited me to volunteer with her at a Bioneer Conference this weekend. The workshop sessions offer a condensed view of local environmental issues from the lips of local activists. Speakers from the national level will be beamed here by satellite. Seems promising for an ecogeezer like me. My daughter will check in on Mom while I am gone. This could work.

1. That conference sounds incredibly cool.
2. "Ecogeezer": niiiiice!
1. Yes it does. I may post a little more after attending. A local fellow is sponsoring it here. He appears to be a mountain mover all his own self, inherited huge money unexpectedly and is using it to do good. Amazing. And rare.
2. Ecogeezer has been my internet moniker for at least 15 years. Thank you for liking it; of course there is a story behind it which is long and boring. Some day, abandoned together on a deserted island, we drag these stories out...
