Your GG loved to wear this little jacket. It's a Pendleton brand, from forty+ years ago when Pendleton still bought wool sheared from Oregon sheep, then carded, spun and wove it in their own mills and made it into pleated skirts, shirts, jackets and blankets, all right there in Pendleton, OR. This is still a beautiful garment after all these years of hard wear. Because woolen garments "breathe" they are rarely too warm, always right for Spring and Fall days and Summer evenings. GG wore this jacket almost year 'round, especially in the AZ desert where the winters are not harsh.
These are oil paint stains on the sleeve. Your GG doesn't own any clothing without paint stains, ninos. Even when she was dressed to go out, she was likely to take a minute to work on her latest painting, and of course she would drag a sleeve across her palette and ... there you have it. GG would cuss when she saw it, but not for long, she was never fussy about things.
The jacket has mother-of-pearl buttons from the lining of oyster shells. Today's mother-of-pearl buttons are faux, manufactured from plastic, although they still look nice. These are more fragile and breakable, but lovely still. Of all the things she wore, this jacket personifies your GG for me, grandchildren. Beautiful with unique features, warm and comforting, strong and enduring, character that comes with quality and a long life, timeless in style.
